The Audi A6 Avant e-tron Concept unveiled this week features one of the most impressive designs seen on a modern car in quite some time. Although it is still a concept, Audi says that it is about 95% representative of what the production model will look like. The Audi A6 Avant e-tron is a fully electric station wagon, a station wagon that Audi says could bring buyers back to the wagon and away from SUVs.

Measuring 195 inches in length, it is about the same size as the current Audi A6 Allroad. However, it is wider and 2 inches lower with an exceptional drag coefficient of 0.24. It promises to offer exceptional versatility, and it will be built on a pretty impressive architecture.

The Audi A6 Avant e-tron is built on the scalable PPE platform which Audi shares with Porsche. This new platform will be featured on multiple upcoming electric Audi vehicles and it uses an 800-volt architecture to provide impressive charging capability. The A6 Avant e-tron can charge add up to 270 kW which will give it up to 300 km of range in just 10 minutes when connected to a fast charger. Charging from 5 to 80 per cent will take less than 25 minutes according to Audi.

The Audi A6 Avant e-tron features a 100-kWh battery which could provide up to 700 km of range based on the European testing cycle. In North America, that translates to roughly 500 kilometres of range.

Horsepower is rated at 469 while there are also 590 pound-feet of torque coming from the Audi A6 Avant e-tron dual-motor setup. That is enough to reach 100 km per hour in under 4 seconds.

According to Audi, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron will join the A6 electric sedan when it arrives on the market in 2024. Although it hasn't been confirmed for North America just yet, it may very well join the current Audi lineup of impressive electric vehicles that include the Audi e-tron SUV, the Audi e-tron GT, and the new Audi Q4 e-tron.
